CAD – Computer-Aided Design
There are two types of CAD (computer-aided design) systems. There is software that is used primarily for 2D Drafting and software for 3D Modelling. My main discipline is 2D drafting and I use Autodesk AutoCAD to produce 2D dwg drawings.
What is 2D drafting?
2D drafting is the process of creating and editing technical drawings, as well as annotating designs. I use CAD (computer-aided design) software to develop floor plans, building layout drawings, product drawings and installation drawings.
CAD software for 2D drafting can be used to draft designs more quickly and with greater precision, without using stencils and technical drawing instruments. 2D CAD software also allows users to document and annotate drawings with text, dimensions, leaders and tables.
AutoCAD 2D Drafting Software
CAD software to design anything — now with time-saving specialised toolsets, web and mobile apps.
AutoCAD® is computer-aided design (CAD) software that architects, engineers and construction professionals rely on to create precise 2D and 3D drawings.
